The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of a fair use image as a replaceable image. Please do not modify it.

The result was to delete the image.

Licence

Just for who ever is attending on the deletion:

Google Earth images are not screen shots of the software, but an output.
Images obtained from Google Earth are licenced to be used on websites as long as not used for commercial purposes.
The image used for a discussion on a talk page, although is now archived, the matter of discussion itself is still going on and hence this images need to stay untill it is done.

The editor who tagged was asked on the reason, but had taken a while to reply, but my fear is that it will be too late before he/she replies for the deletion to go on. I would request the proceeding admin to ask for clarification from me if needed and just don't take the giant leap of removing, what would be a good source to help solve a dispute. Just to add more, after the discussion one of the images will possibly used on the main space and others be nominated as orphaned images. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 22:15, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Further more, I would like to clarify that:

  • the discussion this image is used for (or atleast formally before it was removed in the deletion tagging process) needs political boundary of the state in higher resolutions
  • maps on google maps and wikimapia doesn't provide such resolution of this area and hence a link to use as reference is not possible
  • NASA world wind once again doesn't have resolution needed for this purpose again, so images from there is of no use
  • the images are used as source of information and so creating one won't be useful for this article (since it can't be used as a source for discussion)

Once again, I think it would be best if the preciding admin would contact me if need of anymore information, rather than going on with deletion. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 23:12, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

If this image is being defended as being helpful in a dispute, I have to clarify that nothing could be farther than the truth. The image when compared to official maps comes out as grossly inaccurate and no wonder the above user finds it convenient to push his POV. This image serves no purpose on wikipedia and should be deleted. Sarvagnya 01:00, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I think it is ever more explicite why would some want it to be deleted. If there is a copyright violation let me know, if there isn't, keep it. Thanks Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 06:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

The subject of this image exists and a free equivalent can be created. Therefore this image is "replaceable", and fails the first test of our non-free content policy. -- Rettetast (talk) 18:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

The above is preserved as the archive of an RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.
